Research Focus
My research is aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying vascular development and diseases. Specifically, I focus on studying the crosstalk between cellular metabolism and growth factor signaling in vessel formation regulation and endothelial cell fate maintenance. To that end, I am exploiting metabolomics, transcriptome analysis, genetically engineered mouse models, and several other modern approaches. Aberrant growth factor signaling and its caused vascular dysfunction are intimately involved in many disease conditions including tumor formation and cardiac fibrosis. Therefore, my studies will not only provide fundamental insights into the roles of metabolism in vascular physiology and pathology, but also inform future work in devising new therapeutic strategies for treating human diseases.
