Research Background
The sustainable development of nanotechnology requires thorough understanding of the potential risk of engineering nanomaterials and nanostructures to the biological systems. Zebrafish, as a versatile animal model, has increasingly been used for studying the environmental implications of nanotechnology. This talk aims to stimulate interest for research collaborations by covering: (1) the establishment of a high throughput platform for toxicity screening using zebrafish embryos; (2) the mechanistic understanding of the hatching interference exerted by transition metal oxide nanomaterials; and (3) the aspect ratio-dependent toxicity of CeO2 nanomaterials to zebrafish developing larvae.
